At only 48 pages, this is a quick enough read, but the story which includes a lost wallet, a shoplifter and a blind grandmother, well, that will stay with you longer. I am so happy to have discovered it. Now I’m going to have to find the movie ‘Smoke’ that this story served as a basis for!

He unburdens himself to his friend at his local cigar shop, a colorful character named Auggie Wren. No Guinness on tap; I was having a holiday craving for a Guinness.

How can this be? Finally, it arrived yesterday. Feb 26, girlwithglasses rated it did not like it. Regardless of auggiie title, Auggie Wren’s Christmas Story is a tale that can be read and re-read anytime of the year. As long as there’s one person to believe it, there’s no story that can’t be true. An acquaintance turned friend, Auggie, will save the day by sharing his own personal Christmas tale.

That is the opening for true human companionship and sharing and appreciation – forgetting your insecurities and cynicism and opening up to others, including strangers the blind womanmaking it clear to yourself that the other person is just like you in many ways, just as important, and hey, you never know what you might be missing.

Came to this book in a very round about way.

The waitress began telling us a story that I will never forget. We repeat stories, anecdotes and wishes every day, and in a very real way we live in our heads. Auggie learns a little something about himself and what Christmas might really mean.
